She is Past Chair of the American Society of Landscape Architects' Healthcare and Therapeutic Design Professional Practice Network.

Sachs has a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of New Mexico School of Architecture and Planning.
